FRI. MARCH 4th
CRAFTSTOCK FESTIVAL
Fri. March 4th
8PM - 2AM
Kapisanan Phillipine Center For Arts And Culture
167 Augusta
(Kensington Market)
Toronto, ON
DIY craft culture and indie-folk music seem to go together so perfectly in my mind, I decided to make a night out of it with some of the best Toronto-based bands and artists of the genre at the super cool Kapisanan Phillipine Center For Arts and Culture in Kensington.
spirit oak: bre (broken telephone) and mark (thin hotel)'s wonderful super folk duo opens the night with - you guessed it - super folk awesomeness.

LUM (first rate people sideproject): though first rate people were not able to play due one member's absence, first rate person liam sanagan will be playing a set with or as his sideproject LUM. i would expect insanely hooky folk-pop if his band material is anything to go by. I've been told he will be "rocking the beats."

union duke: phenomenally fun indie-bluegrass band. i lived in halifax for a year and am not the biggest fan of bluegrass, but these guys are amazing and everybody who's seen them says so.

the elwins: indie twee folk pop awesomeness. check out the video for sitting pretty on their myspace.

seoul: fashion-folk from ben landau (formerly of burn planetarium) and crew.

the box tiger and friends (unplugged set): the box tiger have been gaining a lot of momentum in the indie scene, but i asked them if they could unplug for the night and play an acoustic set to show people another side of the band they don't usually see. not only will they be playing their own stuff, but some they'll be joined by some other friends for a little songwriters circle towards the end of the night. stay tuned to find out who will be joing them.
